AWS Block #5 |
Block #23 has been really difficult to cut and piece, I keep making errors and it doesn't seem to add up - mind you maths is not my strong point. The instructions are for hand piecing and I am machine piecing, has anyone else had problems with this block?
I've got these stars...
But these triangles that I made up earlier are the wrong size, I think they should be 11/2" not 1"...
Oh well, 'back to the drawing board', wish me luck!
btw I won't be re-doing the stars, they took me nearly all day to make so everything is going to have fit around them!
Post script - I decided to contact Di re the pattern and there was a problem with the conversion on this block. The drawings are the right size but some of the stated measurements are incorrect. Luckily my stars are safe but the hst's need to be 1 1/2".
Sounds frustrating - poor you! I just had a look at my pattern in the book and Block 23 pattern piece "I" says it measures 1inch/ 2.8cm but actually measures 1 1/2 inches/ 3.8cm - checked with a ruler. Must be a little typo....
ReplyDeleteThank you for the heads up. This quilt is on my "To Do List".
ReplyDeleteSorry!!!
Thanks for pointing that out--I've made a note in my book. Not that I am going to start anytime soon--haha! Your fabrics are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour applique block is wonderful, and I can understand the difficulty of it.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck for future and just concentrate on the measurement, you can come with good outcomes with use of good measurement and good design.
