I've been working away on my 3 major projects (yes there are more tucked away)
Block #1 of my Antique Wedding Sampler is coming along...
I have added the 2nd fabric border to my Auntie Green (I'm using a different fabric for each of the 3 borders)...
...and marked out the appliqué and auditioned fabrics for the stems and leaves.
I have also been working on block #14 of my CCCQ. I learnt a different way of doing stems from Di Ford so thought I would give this method a go.
Cut the fabric on the diagonal |
Fold in half with wrong sides together. |
Mark stem lines, down the centre of where the stem will lie with a pencil. |
Lay the stem along the pencil line (on the inside curve if any) and sew a running stitch 1/8" from raw edge, using double thread. |
Then fold over and slip stitch down this side. I tucked in the leaves as I came to them. |
Good luck with your WIPs!
Carole
I love the fabrics in your auntie Green quilt. Seeing your wedding sampler makes me wanted to get started on that project too! Such inspiring work.
ReplyDeleteMajor projects is understatement! Wow, Iove them all specially the blue tulip block. I do my applique that way too! I used to applique lots once! Hugs Nat
ReplyDeleteWhat a feast for the eyes - love all of it! You have chosen wonderful fabrics for each project. Thanks for sharing the method for stems - they look perfect !
ReplyDeleteVariety is the spice of life, and what great projects to be working on. I love that method of making stems too, you can easily obtain any width you like unlike the bias makers.
ReplyDeleteHi Carole, Your Auntie Green and CCC #14 are looking great! I like all the multicolored leaves in Auntie Green and how you tuned the tulip over. Fun!
ReplyDeleteI like the new way of making stems, I'll have to try that. The Wedding Sampler is sooo tempting.
ReplyDeleteLove your projects, so much lovely appliqué.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy with all your beautiful projects, well done.!

ReplyDeleteOoooo...love that red center on the new block! So pretty! And I love the new center on the first block...really shows up nicely! You really have gotten lots done on Auntie Green! Way to go! Keep it up Girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteThe star block looks interesting. Is it all applique or a combo of applique and piecing?
ReplyDeleteenjoyed watching your progress.
ReplyDeleteAll your projects are looking awesome! I seem to remember doing stems like this a long time ago--I'll have to try it again-- looks pretty slick!
ReplyDeleteI really like how your Auntie Green is coming along. I took the easy way out and joined the Homestead Hearth BOM which starts in December. Which to my horror is this month and I am so far behind on my CCCQ.
