Winterthur Museum fabric giveaway!

This week I have been working on some broderie perse blocks for my Morrell quilt. I had done a few but there are over 30 required for this quilt (!). It was difficult to cut into these beautiful Winterthur Museum John Hewson panels from Andover. I purchased these a while ago and can't remember where I got them :(

Anyway so far I've managed to produce these blocks...

I was all motivated so then pulled out some others that I'd prepped ages ago and was doing a few at at a time, using the same colours on different blocks.

 Going great until....

@#*$%+! How did that happen? I was so engrossed in the sewing that I picked up 2 at a time, I hadn't realised as there was no backing on these and thought the thickness was the backing. Of course this would happen when I was using cream and decided to use a smaller stitch - aaargh! Now having to do the worst unpicking. Anyway let's turn this around and have a give away :) Just leave a comment (or send an email) on a sewing muck up that you have had, for a chance to win one of these small Winterther bird panels (approx 10 1/2 x 10 1/2 ").

I have 2 to give away & I will draw randomly next Saturday evening (3rd Nov). I will post overseas - good luck!!

  2. You have done a great job on these! They look wonderful! Our guild had a class on Broderie purse last year and I revamped an older Broderie project from a few years back. I didn't know how to finish the old one and the teacher explained that I could add more to the old one and it made all the difference! We were able to add more colors and it will allow me to use some other fabrics as a border to frame the wreath I made. It was lots of fun to revisit this old project I still had in my closet! Keep up the good work!

    1. And, as you can see I am not thinking clearly today...so sorry to hear you sewed the two together...I did that once with machine quilting, tiny stitches...I feel your pain!

  3. Hi Carole, those blocks look amazing. You were very brave to cut into those panels. I think Somerset Patchwork have some still if you need more.

  4. Love the little birds. I could use them in the Ann Dags quilt centre. I am also in the middle of the broderie purse on the Morell quilt and have been for quite some time - approx 3 years! Di Hall does wonderful stuff but they do take a lot of time!!

  5. Looking at your beautiful blocks makes me want to drag out my Morell quilt and start on it again....but no no no I have things to do.....like crocheting a blanket in Spiderman colours for Chrissy, not good to do in the humid weather...love love your broderie...my sewing mistake was when I first started to needleturn and I had a horrible habit of sticking the needle and thread into the arm of the chair and my little shitzu had something hanging out of his mouth so I pulled on the thread and out popped the needle on the end....never ever ever have I done that again.
