Dearest Lavender final blocks and layout

Yay! I’ve finally finished the last few blocks and put them together for Dearest Lavender. I may have been AWOL from blogland but I did finally master that troublesome tree block. My sister had the clever idea to appliqué the tree rather than piecing the whole block.

Here’s the star of the show, Dearest Lavender...

I didn’t want to make a second compass block so I made one of my favourites instead, a Dresden plate.

I decided that I didn’t like the first sunflower block I made so I changed some of the colours.

The bird and basket block was a nice straight forward needle-turn applique.

Here is my final layout on the floor.

I am now working on the borders.
Hope to touch base again soon.

  1. wow. You have been busy. And you were missed. I like that you have made this your won with the changes you made.

  2. I love your Lavendar block. Your fabric choices are great. Nice to see you posting again. Hugs

  3. Beautiful applique, I really like the sunflower and cow blocks! Great work on getting it done, hope you have time to baste soon and things are going well for you and hubby.

  4. Lavender is definitely the star of the quilt, but the rest of the blocks are fantastic too! Good idea to applique the tree--nice to have some sisterly advice!

  5. This is so beautiful!! I love the cow!

  6. Hi. It was good to see what you've been working on. Your blocks are lovely and Dearest Lavendar definitely is the star. I like how you made the blocks and made the quilt your own.

  7. Stunning! Simply stunning. I love your fabric choices.

  8. Hurray! Hurray!
I must say that to applique the tree block was something I should have done. I had trouble getting the triangle units pieced where I did not loose points and getting parts to lay flat.

  9. What a fun quilt. Can't wait to see how you get it quilted, and the finish!

  10. Oh it's just the most charming quilt! Love your fabric selections. And oh that center block!
