Here are our first finished blocks...
AWS Block #3 Mine and Judy's |
We both used Thangles to make the half square triangles.
I hand pieced and appliquéd the centre piece but I'm not really happy with mine.
I like how Judy's circle pieces give more of a contrast.
Hmmm might have to change mine...
Here's block #13 that I have hand pieced. I haven't done the broderie perse yet as I'm still deciding how to do it.
I kind of like the green outline so debating whether to leave this and buttonhole stitch it or turn it under and needle-turn, or cut off the green and buttonhole...What do you think?

Have a great weekend!

Both are beautiful blocks, I do like the contrast ion the star. Love your block 13 anyway will look great but I think I would needle turn. Love your fabrics for it !!!!
ReplyDeleteLove It! Wish I had time to work on one of her quilts, but it will have to wait for another year! I do like your green choices, but perhaps darker points on your center will be just what it needs to help it pop. Even if you try adding a stem stitch with darker green, perhaps two close rows of stem stitch, that would add enough color also. Adding a bit of embroidery could be very interesting to match with a tight blanket stitch around the floral pieces. I really like the idea of leaving that green edge on the florals! Great idea! What fun to work along with your sister! Lucky you...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I like the green around the broderie perse pieces too. Looking forward to seeing you work through the blocks!
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt you show. I just ordered Di Fords book and look forward to being able to look it over for days.
ReplyDeleteI like the green edge on Block #13, and Missie's idea to add contrast to the centre of #3 sounds good. I made a little quilt from the fat quarters I bought at Quilts in the Barn, and I used Block #15 from Wedding Sampler as the centre.
ReplyDeleteThis is very exciting to see your start - glad the planets lined up for you! Love what you have both done so far. The green outer looks nice but I expect needle turn without the green will look great too - more subtle! Maybe just try a little needleturn to see? Love the centre - with the little angel!
ReplyDeleteHi Carole, I love what you have done thus far on your new project. It will be awesome! All those difference blocks look inviting! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSo true--Some patterns are just meant to be made by us 'some day'.:) Love this quilt. Am enjoying seeing progress.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be another great one.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt to work on, I love your green colour choices, I look forward to following you on your journey ;0)
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing quilt! I like the subtleness in your first block star.
ReplyDeleteThe broderie purse will look wonderful either way.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt, and how neat to work alongside your sister. I am going to order the Di Ford book for myself - it's just a stunning sampler!
