Green Tea and Sweet Beans Giveaway

Back to work and on the buses this week and so to hand stitching. I have completed the first and almost finished the second of the 4 keystone blocks for my 12 Days of Christmas quilt. I have enjoyed using a range of stitches on these small 5" blocks - running, stem, satin, open lazy daisy and colonial knots (I always choose a colonial knot, rather than a french knot, as I find they practically always have a neat finish).

Can you spot my mistake on the blue bird? Click on the pic below for a close-up.

Leave me a comment or send me an email as to what you think the error is and I will randomly select a correct answer to win a 'Green Tea and Sweet Beans' pattern. This quilt by Jen Kingwell of Amitie Textiles was inspired by one of her many trips to Japan. A friend gave me this pattern when it first came out, it's gorgeous but I just don't think I'll ever make it myself.

I'll draw a winner next Thursday 24th Jan and I will post overseas.
Good luck!!

  1. I can't see anything wrong with it! But then, nothing I make ever turns out like it is supposed to!!

  2. I believe that you changed the type of stitch you were doing at the tail end of your bird. But it looks great, I had to enlarge the picture and really study it.

  3. I didn't notice until I zoomed in, so it's a good kind of error...looks like maybe two stitches didn't quite fit together? Like I said a good error to make! It's a darling block!

  4. Hmm. . . There's a mistake? Is it that the tail has those straight stitches instead of the ropier stitching of the rest of the blue? (egads, I need to learn the names of such things!!) It's an adorable block, though! And that's a neat quilt pattern.

  5. Not what I would call a mistake but there is the change of stitch style near the tail area...but could well be intentional?! Looks beautiful anyway LOL :)

  7. I think you changed from a stem stitch to a straight stitch in the tail. Very cute bird.

  8. I think the birdie looks perfect! Is it that the wing should have the point at the front of the bird and the rounded part to the rear?

  9. Cute bird! I think the straight stitch and the stem stitch is what you might consider as the mistake, but in the bigger picture no one will notice. :) I adore that pattern! It is hands down amazing. I want to start it on linen and some text neutrals I have.

  10. The bird is very sweet.I had to zoom in but I think I found the mistake , you changed from stem to back stitch for a few stitches. It's not noticeable at all. The pattern is lovely must look that one up !! Happy Sewing. Claire
