17ufosin2017 January update

Yikes, we've tipped over into February already but here's my January update. Meredithe & Anne's challenge has really worked for me so far and I have three finishes from my list😊😊😊
1. The [Travel] Comfort Quilt - most of the fabrics in this quilt are from my travels in Japan and New Zealand. This quilt was designed by Leanne Beasley and the pattern is in her Vignette #3 magazine. It's lovely to have it on our bed during the summer months.

The little EPP tumbler blocks on the label were left over from a sewing box that I made, all these fabrics are in the quilt.

9. Sew Laugh Love - another Leanne Beasley design.

I really like the way the applique squares and triangles from the border fabrics blend in and don't you love the vintage buttons that I inherited from a friend?

15. Boro coasters - these were started in a BeBe Bold class.

I have also FINALLY finished all of the blocks for the Chester County Criswell Quilt - yay! As you know I have subsituted some different blocks into this quilt, the pineapple block below was designed by Elly Sienkiewicz

'Hospitality'
I drew a pomegranate block from a picture I saw on one of Barbara Brackman's blog posts.

So I have finished all the blocks but now I'm struggling with the layout, anyway hope to have it sorted soon.

And I have made a block for the retro quilt from Sharon's blog.

I have also been doing a lot of hand sewing of the first pathways for the Value Proposition Quilt, the done pile has now out grown the unfinished pile.

Thank you for all the encouragement I received about my list. This challenge has really motivated me and it's not too late to join in the fun.
Cheers

Going around in circles

Another AWS block is driving me crazy.

Antique Wedding Sampler pattern by Di Ford

I don't know why I only made 7 circles for this block? There were meant to be nine, 8 around the diameter and one in the centre. Oh well, I won't be changing it - my SIL will never know.

You might remember that I thought I'd found the perfect fabric for the outside petals/leaves? Well I thought I would go with the green but after sewing a couple down it just seems too wishy-washy. Now I don't know whether to go back to the pink, do a combination of green and pink or find different fabrics all together?

Anyway, Spring has sprung in Warrandyte and the plum trees are all in bloom..

This has inspired me to get out poor old Auntie Green and add some blooms and lots of circular buds.

Once again I spend ages (but this is fun) selecting fabrics. My choices for this quilt are quite weird and random so it's hard getting the right combination, so lots of auditioning happening.

But she's slowly growing.

I've finished the stitchery and appliquéing the mini Dresden for Gossip in the Garden. I decided not to make the centre a circle, but reversed appliqued the centre for a hexagonal shape instead. It's a relief to work on this BOM as the fabrics are already chosen, although I am making some changes, including using a yellow background for this mini-block.

I have also added a stitched circular button to Sew Laugh Love.

And a little cupcake with a cherry on top.

I hope you're enjoying the change of seasons in your part of the world.

FNwF

Did a bit of this and that yesterday and had an early start to Friday Night with Friends.
I worked on machine piecing some Periwinkle Star blocks for Part D of Gossip in the Garden.

They have a cute name and look cute but I have to admit that for me they are a chore to make.

So I put them aside after adding a few to the pile and moved onto preparing the stitching for Part D but I failed to centre the design properly so had to try and erase the writing and soon abandoned that unpleasant task.

Luckily my Sew Laugh Love stitchery is always ready to pick up when I don't have anything else prepared.

Thanks for all of your help with my CCCQ colour dilemma, I have decided to add some green, probably blue-greens. This might be a good bridging fabric, red with some green and blue elements for my next block.

I hope you had a productive night.
