Quilts in the Barn 2015

This year QITB featured the quilts of Margaret Sampson-George and her talented students.

The Barn was overflowing with hexies, birds, fruit, flowers, baskets, crowns and hares. This was the raffle quilt 'Out of the Blue' which raised money for Beyond Blue. You can purchase the pattern from Liz's Broderie etsy shop.

We can't post photos of whole quilts so here are some snippets.  I'll just let the pictures do the talking...

It was an over-whelming experience to see these quilts en masse, it made me feel as though my own quilts are quite boring. Really makes you think about fabric and colours and how everything can be combined from repro to Kaffe Fassett to Aboriginal prints. Thanks to Linda and her helpers; and Margaret Sampson-George and her students for this wonderful opportunity.

Wishing you a safe and peaceful Easter.

  1. Delightful eye candy - thank you for posting the photos. It was a shame that such great work is not available to all. Not all can travel so far!!! Well done to quilt makers who ever they are - they deserve credit.

  7. Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting the pictures of the show. I knew Marg's work was being featured and would love to see it in person but I live too far away. There is so much inspiration in those quilts and it makes my fingers itch to sew!

  9. Thanks for sharing these pictures from Quilts in the Barn. It is such a great example of quilting in your area I would never see as I am in the USA. I also love the quilts u do. I just started Gossip in the Garden as a BOM from our LQS. U had a great influence on me joining in.

  10. They are definitely a lot more out there than anything I do, but the workmanship is amazing. I just wouldn't know where to start with that much colour. Thanks for sharing.

  18. you are right thinking of the fabrics used and how they are presented in the quilt is just so spectacular! I have to revisit my stash for sure and see how I can rework my fabric. I am a frugal person with my fabric that will have to change to become more creative.
