Lucky me!

I started collecting blue Liberty fabrics last year with the idea of one day making a Dear Jane quilt.

I was inspired by this quilt made by Julianne who has kindly let me post the following pics from her blog -

I haven't seen this quilt in real life but I don't think this photo does it justice. It was pictures of the individual blocks like these below that really caught my attention.

I'm sure you can see why I was inspired!

I never would have dreamed of having the opportunity to take a class with the famous Brenda. Thanks to Linda the 'one day' Dear Jane quilt will now be happening :)

Finishing this secret sewing block was a great opportunity to practise sewing with Liberty fabrics. They are truly something else! Beautiful to needle turn and they don't fray so you can afford to have a small seam allowance to turn under. I was glad that I already use fine no. 11 straw needles and fine Superior thread.

Do you have an exciting sewing experience to look forward to?

  2. I just had a fun quilting experience this week when I took a workshop with Victoria Findlay-Wolfe. Had a lot of fun making fabric with my scraps and, of course, have started a new project!
I'm looking forward to seeing the DJ quilt you'll be making! I think it will be gorgeous in those blue Liberty fabrics.

  9. I made my Dear Jane almost fifteen years ago and while there are many blocks it was fun and a great learning experience. I hope you enjoy making yours as much as I enjoyed making mine!
I've never tried Liberty fabrics but your post makes me eager to give them a go!

  11. Welcome to the club . . . almost . . . I am planning to start my Dear Jane 2 in a few weeks. I do like the fussy cutting on some of those blocks. Makes me want to consider making several more.

So exciting that you are starting a Dear Jane - and it will be wonderful in the Liberty! Thanks for showing those little Liberty blocks - beautiful inspiration. It is such fine fabric for fiddly work.
